Aberdeenshire Council funding hard hitting road safety TV ad.
A hard hitting road safety advert is being screened again to focus the minds of young people on the risks of being distracted crossing roads and the possible tragic consequences.
Aberdeenshire Council’s Transport Strategy Unit is funding further screenings of the “1 Second 1 Life” TV advert as part of the ongoing Bus Stop! campaign.
The team’s aim is to increase the safety awareness of young people crossing roads after disembarking from buses and focuses on the risks of being distracted by things such as listening to music and/or checking phones. It also highlights the need for drivers to be vigilant at all times.
The advert forms part of a wider campaign which also includes an education pack which includes a DVD entitled “1 Second 1 Life,” a booklet for teachers with lesson plans for school pupils from Primary 1 to Secondary 6, posters and a website www.1Second1Life.co.uk
Launched in 2009 the campaign was originally developed by the North East School Transport Safety Group, comprising Aberdeenshire Council, Aberdeen City Council, The Moray Council and Road Safety Grampian and has been supported by Talisman Energy (UK) and Stagecoach.
Schools across Scotland are able to tap into the resource via the website, which hosts an electronic version of the teaching pack and a copy of the ad.
